Last updated: November 7, 2026Plan a set
Open Designs > Create a Nail Set, choose a shape, and continue. Or open Design Library, preview one of the 20 built-in themes, and choose Edit Sample. Editing creates your own Sample Copy and leaves the built-in original unchanged. Select a finger in the overview to change its base color, French line, and up to three geometric details. L1 and R1 are thumbs.
Save, recover, and copy
Choose Save for a design with a shape and at least one designed nail, or Save Draft for an unfinished or empty set. Names must be 1–80 characters after trimming; written notes can be up to 2,000 characters. Saving an existing design updates the same record; Save as Copy creates a new record. A recoverable draft is written while editing and can be resumed from Designs or Nail Studio. Undo and redo cover the current editing session, up to 20 operations; undo history is not restored after a cold launch.
Mirror and empty nails
In Mirror & Copy, choose the direction and Preview Mirror. Review the colors that will be replaced and choose Confirm Mirror. Thumb maps to thumb, detail positions reflect horizontally, and rotations reverse. Undo reverts the whole operation. Copy One Nail copies a chosen source to a chosen target. Empty slots remain Not Designed; color share uses only designed slots. Details without base color appear as No Base Color. You may mark up to four accent nails.
Photos and permissions
Use Hand Reference to take a photo, choose a supported JPEG, PNG, or HEIC still image, or use the illustrated sample. Photo references are shown beside the vector design and are never fitted to nails automatically. If the camera is unavailable or denied, choose a photo or sample. To change permissions, open Settings > Open iOS Settings. If a selected photo is only stored in the cloud, download it in Photos first and try again. Changing nail shape does not distort the reference photo.
Voice notes
Open Record Note from a reference or brief. Allow microphone access only if you want audio. Pause, resume, or stop a recording of up to 120 seconds. Play it back before Save Recording. If an interruption or background transition occurs, recording stops and does not resume automatically. Review the available audio before saving. A re-recording replaces the previous note only after you save it. If microphone permission is denied, use a written note instead.
Export a design or all data
Open Design Brief, choose full set, left hand, or right hand, and choose whether to include notes or reference photos. Preview Export shows the actual scope. Export Image produces a PNG with a 2048-pixel long edge and no sound. Export Audio shares the saved M4A separately. Settings > Export All Data creates a ZIP with manifest.json, records, images, audio, and README.txt. Exports are readable copies, not an in-app restore backup. Cancelling a share does not change your design.
Missing files or storage errors
If an image or recording is unavailable, the design text remains. Replace the photo or re-record the audio before exporting all data. If saving fails, your last successful saved version is unchanged. Free device storage, keep the editing screen open, and try again. Avoid uninstalling while troubleshooting because uninstalling can remove local records. Do not send private media or complete device paths in diagnostic messages.
Deletion and offline use
Delete a single design from its overview, remove photos or recordings from the relevant page, or use Settings > Delete All Personal Data. Confirm the deletion carefully; it cannot be undone. Built-in templates and original system-library photos remain. Files already shared or exported are outside the app’s deletion control. Design tools, samples, saving, and exports work offline. Legal pages have bundled offline copies when the hosted page cannot be loaded.
Accessibility and privacy
Use labelled finger slots, standard controls, and numeric sliders as alternatives to dragging details. The app uses a fixed light theme and English interface. There is no login, cloud sync, advertising, tracking, public feed, or purchase. See Privacy Policy for local-storage details and network processing when hosted pages are opened.
Contact status
Operating name: Nail Storyboard. Configured contact: nailstoryboard@support.com. This address is an unverified placeholder and is not represented as monitored. A working English support contact must be provided before store release. Until then, use this included guide and iOS Settings for local troubleshooting. When a real channel is available, include the app version, iOS version, device model, steps to reproduce, and the exact error text; do not include private photos, audio, or sensitive text unless required and explicitly requested.
